Our region

Our house lies in the Department "Drôme", which in the south borders on "Provence". That means that we live where southern France begins, in the triangle between Lyon, Valence and Grenoble above the Rhône valley.

We live in a region favored by its climate. The winters are shorter and milder than in Central Europe, with days when we have lunch outside. In summer, even when it gets hot, the landscape remains green with pleasant shadowy places because of the many sources.

Our (former) farm lies in a hilly countryside, where the eyes slowly wander into the distance, until they meet the 2400 meter high massif of the Vercors, the beginning of the Alps. By car you get there in about 40 minutes. This large nature reserve with its steep lime rocks and spectacular gorges is ideal for all who love nature, such as hikers, climbers, botanists, speleologists or normal visitors of caves. Motor cyclists like the curves of the roads to the passes.

In the neighborhood you find many possibilities for excursions, marked hiking-paths and cultural events. Various leaflets and our advice are at your disposal. You can:

• visit many places in the Rhône valley (Provence, Ardèche and Avignon, each 1 hour by car) and in the Alps (Grenoble 1 hour)
• visit several caves with stalagmites and stalactites
• cycle (we lend bicycles)
• ride horses (10 minutes by car)
• canoe (about 40 minutes by car)
• swim (lake, about 30 minutes by car)
• fly (gliders with and without motor, airfield 10 minutes by car)
